Researchers from Denmark have found that women with daily stress in their life have less risk of developing breast cancer. The reports of the study have been published in the British Medical Journal. The study was conducted in 6,689 women for a follow up period of 18 years.//

The estrogen which is responsible for growth of cancer cells, causes increased risk of breast cancer. Researchers have found that stress reduced the production of oestrogen and suppressed the production of oestrogen, the reduction of oestrogen production, decreased the risk of breast cancer.

'Prolonged-low key stress of everyday life results in a persistent activation of stress hormones which may impair oestrogen synthesis and may therefore be related to lower risk of breast cancer,' the researchers said.

Though controversies exist between stress and breast cancer, as researchers from NIH, has shown that lower incidence of primary breast cancer among stressed women and more research is needed to strike the balance between stress and breast cancer. Scientists warned that stress was not a health cure, given that high levels had also been associated with increased risk of potential killers like heart disease.
