Women Health : Acute Stress, A Shot in The Arm For Flu?

England : Women, If you have been physically or mentally active just before taking a Flu shot, be rest assured that your body is better equipped to churn out antibodies// greater in number than those women who have been inactive before a flu shot! This has been suggested by a study conducted by University of Birmingham .

The study is detailed in the March issue of the journal Brain, Behavior, and Immunity. This finding lends credence to the ongoing thinking that immune function gets suppressed by chronic stress while acute stress actually acts an enhancer.

Lead author of the study, Kate Edwards said We're suggesting that the effect of stress could all be in the timing. What we think is that the acute stress is activating the immune system; it's preparing it for a challenge.

Ofcourse this study is still prelimnary and has shown response only in one among three flu strains, with no proven effect in men.
