Turkey is kept on high alert after bird flu was detected and resulted in the death of the three siblings from the same family. Recently bird flu has been detected in wild ducks near Ankara, the capital town.// Agriculture and Rural Affairs Minister Mehdi Eker said that the people need not fear as all measures are being done to protect the them from the disease.
Over ten areas are detected with bird flu out of which five are sure cases of bird flu.
As part of quarantine measures 14,000 birds have been culled and people are not asked to touch the sick birds with bare hands.
On Saturday both the Health minister, Recep Akdag and the World Health Organization expert will land in Turkey to test the bird flu cases as a lot of people are affected with bird flu in this district.
The samples that were sent from the three members of the family who are dead also revealed that they were affected by the disease and the strain being H5N1. Currently another child is also hospitalized showing the same symptoms.
Environment and Forestry Minister Osman Pepe prohibited the hunting of all the birds in Turkey, as they might be a carrier of the disease.
He also said that this ban is for an indefinite period and is imposed on all winged animals. They all fear that the disease, which as of now spreads fom birds to human, will mutate in to another form, which will easily pass from man to man.
This would lead in the triggering of a global pandemic. So far 70 have been killed by this H5N1 strain of the bird flu virus and in case of mutation they fear that the number will increase enormously. '"/>
