Why do a few Transplant Patients Develop Cancer ?

Researchers from the Ohio State University (OHU) have zeroed in on a weakened scout cell, which is known to cause cancer in transplant patients.//

The research points out that cancer in some of the transplant patients shows inadequacy in cells, that assume the role of scout for the immune system. Researchers are optimistic that by getting to know the mechanism, they may be able to find ways to prevent the onset of cancer. The reason as to why only some patients are afflicted with post-transplant lymphoproliferative disorder (PTLD) , while some did not, is getting obvious with this research.

The findings of this research are published in the August issue of the American Journal of Transplantation.
