Whopping Cancer Treatment Charges May See the Light of Day

The cost of treatment at the community-built Riverina Cancer Care Centre is looking forward to some change, with expectations hovering around reduction in prices, which will bring about the much needed respite after the recent price hike. // This has happened following fears expressed by the cancer support groups that people may avoid treatment owing to high costs.

Kay Hull, who is the Federal Member for Riverina, is hopeful of a positive outcome in her negotiations for funding that will help the Riverina Cancer Care Centre in Wagga. The fees were raised by the private operators to basically help in the fund flow for the cost of a second treatment machine.

The Federal Government had offered to chip in with grants based on patient patronage but the center’s operators requested an immediate funding of up to $2 million. Damien Williams from the Cancer Care Centre has expressed that fees will be restructured only after the federal funding is realized. Kay Hull is very optimistic after the talks, which according to her, is moving towards a resolution.
