White House recipes doing the rounds for commoners!!

The prerogative of dining like the Prez and the first lady used to lie to no one. Still if being a donor helped you had to shell out large sums of money//. Not now, as wn ex chef brings it all to you.

What was eaten by Clintons and the Bush clan could be yours for a price which is much less as compared to being a donor but worth it they say!

The man in question is Chef Walter Scheib, 52, who cooked at the White House for 11 years under the Clintons and the Bushes. The charge one has to pay is $250-300 per head - plus the cost of food and wine - for the honour of making and serving the White House fare and spreading White House lore outside the famous presidential home.

Scheib admits, "It's not cheap. But serving a well-educated, food-aware clientele and everything is unique. I don't want it to be OK but fabulous.”

he also finds time to entertain and have some fun with the customers like he makes a grimace and imitates the way President George W. Bush speaks, Scheib says: "Cookie, what's cooking?".

Talking about the Prez and their better halves he says that it is well known that generally likes a hearty meal, like his predecessor, Bill Clinton, who has been singing the praises of vegetables and salads only since his post-presidential heart bypass operation.

The master chef starts recounting the occasions for which a particular dish was created, and people feel close to the power of the president and his numerous illustrious guests.

As an instance Scheib served buffalo steaks to the president of Mexico and a raspberry dessert that became Chelsea Clinton's favourite.

He was relieved of his services abruptly due to scallops is what does the rounds but he brushes it aside and says that Laura Bush wanted her own personal touches! Infact she took his assistant as the next first female chef of the white house on his recommendations.

he says with pride, "I tak e it as a compliment because I recommended Cristeta.”
