Warm Watermelon Scores Over Cold In Nutritive Value

Washington: Researchers from the U.S. Department of Agriculture have indicated the enhanced nutritive benefits of watermelon at normal temperature as against cold Watermelon. //

According to scientists, watermelons are a production house of nutrients even after they are severed from the parent plant, which slows down once the melon is cooled. Further, researchers said that watermelons kept at 70 degrees, contained almost 40% of lycopene and 50 to 139 % beta-carotene. Lycopene is a protective nutrient against heart disease, and a few cancers whereas beta-carotene in the body gets converted to Vitamin A.
