Violence At Home on the Rise

According to one study it was said that 44 % of women suffer from Intimate Partner Violence (IPV) or domestic violence. //It affects both the mental health as well as the physical health of the women. The study team was headed by senior investigators of the Group Health Center for Health Studies, Robert S Thompson MD. He analyzed 3,400 women members. The researchers found that nearly half -44 per cent, reported having experienced IPV during their adult lifetime.

He said that most of the IPV cases go unreported because of the stigma and shame associated with it. Many women suffer from difficult problems that they are unsure how to address them. Women experience a mixture of IPV physical IPV and verbal threats. Another study was reported by Amy E Bonomi, PhD, said that it affects a woman’s physical, mental health and social network around her. Women are victims suffering from physical domestic violence such as slapping, hitting, kicking, or forced sex, were four times as likely to report symptoms of severe depression.
