James Douglas the present governor f Vermont has come up with a new strategy for uninsured Vermonters. He said that about one third are still uninsured // because they can’t afford insurance.
According to his new plan every individual will be assigned to a primary clinician who will analyze his or her health.
The governor's plan segregates the 60,000 people who are uninsured into three categories and has different solutions for their problems.
In the first group 45% of the uninsured who are potentially eligible for insurance will be given insurance.
In the second 34% who don’t qualify for insurance will be provided with monetary help to become insured.
In the third group of 21% who have incomes greater than 300% than the poverty level will be given insurance without any financial help.
By this new plan the governor proposes to end the long queue of the uninsured people. The insurance policy made available to people under the new scheme will be of lesser cost and will be analyzes separately from the other Vermonters.
The governor also plans to increase the salary paid by the state to the doctors, allow out of state providers to sell insurance to Vermonters.
The state mainly will be providing financial assistance to 21,000 (approx) individual who lack insurance because they can’t afford it. It defines a salary of $9570 for an individual & $19350 for a family consisting of four members as household incomes. The people within this category only will be financially assisted by the government.
The governor and his government propose to deliver health care facility under two modules.
Module 1: To improve medical information technology, giving doctors the ability to accept errors without facing lawsuits, insurance discounts for healthy lifestyles and expansion of chronic care initiative.
Module 2: The insurance premium tax will be used to finance the new plan. '"/>
