Use of Song in Disposable Diaper Campaign Enrages Beatles Fans

Some Beatles fans are furious over the latest use of a Fab Four song in a nappy commercial .

The legendary bands 1967 peace anthem "All You Need Is Love" has been used to underline a new disposable diaper campaign, and devotees are enraged about the step.

"For people who feel that political connection, it comes off as kind of a callous action. You've got the Beatles, which draws like, religious feelings, and you've got the war [Vietnam], the Daily Snack quoted Angela Natividad, co-editor of adrants.com, a marketing commentary site, as saying.

This is not the first time that a Beatles track has been used in ads. A version of their song "Help!" was used in a car commercial in 1985, and current Target Corp. store commercials use a version of "Hello Goodbye" _ "Goodbuy" in the ads.

But the "All You Need..." campaign, launched this month for Procter & Gamble Co.'s Luvs diapers, has attracted immense anger from fans, who do not approve of the song being used during another time of war, in Iraq, to evoke soiled nappies.

"I just cannot see a Beatles song being used for trivial things ... not Beatles songs!" fan Andy Bonnell said.

However, Lisa Jester, a P>G baby care spokeswoman, said that the commercial, showing a nappy-clad toddler fighting with a stuffed bear as his smiling family watches, was popular in testing with parents.
