US To Look In To Improving the Elder Care

According to the New York Times US has taken necessary steps and planned a schedule to support employed women to take care of their parents//. It was found that women took leave from work very often to take care of their parents. Also this distracted them from their schedule of work and increased their stress level.

The after effects are that they suffer from a wide rage of medical problems. The news paper said that the companies are taking necessary measures regarding this issue but analysts say they often rely on child care benefits as a model and that does not suit the needs of the elderly. The other factor is that the companies are offering health insurance and pensions and hence have reduced the other benefits such as referral services and unpaid leaves. Statistics show that about 20 million employees have to take care of their ill parents.

Hence benefits which are useful to them have to be offered so that they can focus more on their jobs and less on their personal problems. Geriatric case managers are the ones from whom one has to understand the guidelines of Medicaid and Medicare benefits offered to the elderly. There are certain companies that offer such services who charge a very nominal fee. The Society for Human Resource Management, which represents more than 200,000 human resource and other corporate officials, said 39 % of its members reported in 2003 that elder care benefits were too costly to be feasible.
