US Government Calls For Better Drug Supplies

The US health insurers who are under contract with the new Medicare drug plan have been called upon by the Bush Administration to be in a position to make 30 day supplies to all the patients. This has been made necessary, as several patients // across the country were reportedly unable to procure medicines which Medicare had promised. It is also the responsibility of insurers to ensure that an amount of over $ 2 was not charged for a generic drug where low-income beneficiaries are concerned, and $5 in the case of brand-name drugs.

Public health emergencies were declared by several states in the country, with state governments offering to pay for prescriptions which is the responsibility of the prescription drug program of Medicare. The insurance companies are reportedly unable to identify the poor people who are entitled to extra help where the drug costs are concerned.

Several hundreds of thousands of beneficiaries are reported to have switched plans. The present coverage of Medicare amounts to one million prescriptions everyday. The states that have offered to come to the aid of the low-income groups are inclusive of New England, Ohio, Pennsylvania, California, and Illinois. Most people do not comprehend the new complicated federal program.
