UK Has To Focus On Bridging the Gap between Healthcare Professionals and Patients

According to the report of a medical charity in the UK it is found that there is very little exchanged between the Patients and healthcare officials. //The Government though has taken all possible steps to promote patient-friendly health services through the current reforms. But the sad state is that UK lags behind Australia, Canada, New Zealand, Germany and the USA. This Picker Institute study report criticizes the present prevailing attitude. The doctors are hardly giving any advice to the patients. There is very less interaction between the doctor and patients regarding their care, disease prevention and lifestyle changes. They are not allowed access to their medical records.

They are unaware and lack a clear insight on how to monitor and manage their treatment. Statistics shows that one in five patients who suffer from a chronic disease conditions are given a self-management plan. The author of the study Professor Coulter said that NHS has to intervene and take necessary steps to increase the interaction between healthcare professionals and patients. As all these measure in the long run would very effectively reduce the money spent on health care.
