Turmeric And Cabbage effective against prostate cancer

A new research conducted at the State University of New Jersey (Rutgers) revealed that curry spice turmeric in combination with phenethyl isothiocyanate (PEITC) is very effective in the treatment of prostate cancer.//

PEITC is found abundantly in cauliflower, cabbage, watercress, winter cress, broccoli, Brussels sprouts, kale, kohlrabi and turnips.

PEITC and turmeric (curcumin), alone or in combination is very effective in the treatment of prostate cancer in the laboratory mice. Ah-Ng Tony Kong, a professor of pharmaceutics told the press today that this research is of great value in establishing new treatment modalities for prostate cancer in any stage.

There were previous data of PEITC and curcumin to be very effective against prostate cancer from cell culture laboratories. But the researchers wanted to study the effectiveness on live animals.

So they experimented on mice with human prostate cancer tumors and the results were reported in the journal Cancer research. Mice were injected with PEITC and curcumin alone or in combination, thrice a week for a period of four weeks to test their effectiveness to prevent and treat prostate cancer.

It proved to be very effective in killing the cancer cells in the mice and hence would help in the treatment of human prostate cancer.
