In Shymkent, a city situated in the southern Kazakhstan, the trial on twenty medical staff who is accused of spreading HIV virus begins today.//

These medical personnel have been charged with serious allegations like the purchase of blood from donors who have not tested for HIV infection, reuse of disposable syringes, needles and other medical equipments. These people are also said to be responsible for the presence of HIV infected blood in Shymkent’s blood banks. As a result of this more than sixty people are said to have contracted this deadly disease.

The trial which is scheduled to commence today has been kept highly guarded. According to the officials in-charge, the trial may last for many months to come.
