According to the lead researcher Dr.H.Klar Yaggi, M.D., professor in Yale's Department of Internal Medicine, pulmonary section. It was found that men with 6-8 hrs sleep were most healthy. In Comparison men who stated that they slept between 5-6 hrs a night were twice as likely to develop diabetes, while those who slept for more than 8 hrs were three times at risk. The risks were the same after they had separated risk groups like, hypertension, smoking, etc.

With these studies he felt the researchers know beginning to understand the hormonal and metabolic implication sleep. As of now and the research he felt that men sleeping too little, are having marked alterations in the metabolic and hormonal functions including decreased carbohydrate tolerance, insulin resistance, and lower levels of the hormone leading to obesity.
