The Sale Of Expired Drugs In A Hospital In Chandigarh

The CGHS hospital in Chandigarh has been compromising with the life of its patients and selling expired drugs unscrupulously through its in-house dispensary says a latest report. The criminal operation was brought to light // by a news team, which exposed and captured unethical conduct on camera.

As soon as the accusation was made those involved first went into denial mode immediately after being caught. But with evidence staring them in the face they soon realized that the team was there without permission and tried to stop them. However when pressed to explain the findings they finally decided to flee.

The report has sent alarm bells ringing and has jolted authorities and the Union Health Secy has called for an explanation from the hospital authorities. In a statement released by the Joint Director (CGHS), Dr Subhash Chandra said: “There may be some error and we will try to improve the system” and he tried to douse the fire by saying that it was the inability of the new dispensary to cope with the rush of patients that might have led to the error.
