The Hand That Rocks the Cradle, Holds the Ladle, is Not to Be Blamed If the Child Isnt in Fine Fettle

Thank God for this, many mothers might just heave a sigh of relief. For years, mothers have had to face disapproval from their partners if their children were overweight. Somehow, flak regarding children is blamed on the mothers inability to rear children appropriately.

New research has come to the aid of such mothers who have always been at the receiving end of such complaints.

Research by Australian child health experts has explained that it is important for the father to set certain rules and regulations for their kids. In the absence of such boundaries, which is the often the case in disengaged fathers, children are bound to be overweight with no tabs on their lifestyle.

A study of 5000 youngsters revealed that dads who got involved with child management had kids with lower BMI.

A mothers parenting style did not do much to address issues of weight in children, according to research by Murdoch Children's Research Institute and the Royal Children's Hospital, Melbourne. Hospital specialist Professor Melissa Wake said, "Mothers are often blamed for their children's obesity, but this study suggests that for more effective prevention perhaps we should focus on the whole family."

Extra weight is not a good sign and can bring about a host of illnesses like asthma, diabetes, cardiovascular disease and cancer.
