Clinical research is on the rise in India, hence experts say they are concerned that the unchecked boom may result in some of the newer organizations compromising on quality and ethical standards while conducting drug trials. //

The president of the Indian Society of Clinical Research (ISCR), Dr. Shoibal Mukherjee has recently said that a newly created platform for dialogue and discussion on clinical research is currently on and says that India has a special place in the global clinical research sector because of its skilled manpower and patient pool, but it still needs to iron out some glitches.

Although well established companies have a streamlined their protocols for conducting trials, there are some who still need guidelines says Dr Mukherjee and he feels that the society will endeavour to put in place guidances without compromising quality and ethical standards. However others like Dr Chetan Tamhankar say that efforts should be made to form a body that can be relied on for unbiased feedback.
