Test of Patience: Surgery Delayed is Surgery Denied?

Abounding complaints from Doctors about huge backlogs of patients for important surgeries has alerted The Canadian Medical Association//, who have begun investigating the issue. According to the complaint, operations such as hysterectomies, colonoscopies and gallbladder surgeries have been put on the back burner, with patients on a long-winding waiting list.

Lack of evidence to support these complaints has spurred the Canadian Medical Association to investigate thoroughly during the course of an online study which is scheduled to begin in the following week.

Health Minister Tony Clement said, "If someone is asserting that this is happening because we're increasing our demands without putting more money that's not in fact true. The money's there... so let's find out what the reason is and fix the problem. No one wants a situation where you're fixing one problem but creating another."

The conservative government has promised that it would strive to improve waiting times for patients, and this endeavor will occupy a place of prominence in their priority list.
