Unable to cope with his suffering, a tuberculosis (TB) patient in Madhya Pradesh has requested Indian President A.P.J. Abdul Kalam to allow him //to end his own life and that of his four minor children.

Uttam Singh Ojha, a resident of Guna who is in his late 40s, is suffering from TB and has long been dependent on his children for moving around. His wife too had died of TB a few years ago.

He has now written to Kalam seeking permission to kill himself and his four sons, reports said.

Ojha had sought help from Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan and Guna MP Jyotiraditya Scindia but did not receive any response from either.

His eldest son is just 14 years old and all the four sons had been working in hotels to make ends meet. But now all of them have stopped going out for work as Ojha's condition has worsened and he cannot be left alone. As a result, the family is on the brink of starvation.

Top Guna administrative official G.K. Saraswat said he was not aware of Ojha's plight but told IANS on telephone: "We will definitely look into the matter if a request comes from the family."
