Anaemia due to iron deficiency is one of the major cause of morbidity in most of the underdeveloped countries. Children with iron deficiency anemia may be reluctant to take extra vitamins or iron pills, as they are inadvertently inedible.

But now Iron-fortified candies were effective for improving the iron status of young children and might be an affordable way to combat iron deficiency in children of low-to-middle income groups. These candies are the end result of extensive research undertook by Mayang Sari of Helen Keller International in Jakarta, Indonesia and colleagues.

The results of the present study indicate that the iron-fortified candies, which provided 48% of the recommended dietary allowance of iron per week, were acceptable to children aged 4 to 6 years and improved their iron status.

It is also noted that these candies increase the iron in the blood to about 10% in 3 months.

So its time for u kids to ask your mom to buy u candies.....iron candies.
