Sweat It Out- Prevent Colon Cancer

An in-depth expansive study involving more than 413,000 persons from 10 countries has come up with a promising find; an hour of vigorous activity or two hours// of moderate activity can cut the risk of bowel or colon cancers occurring by 22 to 35 per cent.

Christine Friedenreich of the International Agency for Research on Cancer in Lyon, France, and the Alberta Cancer Board carried out the study to assess how physical activity can cut the risk of colon tumors.

Colon cancer is a malignant (cancerous) tumor arising from the inner wall of the large intestine.

Although the exact causes of colon cancer are not known, it appears that both hereditary and environmental factors, like what we eat, play a role in its development.

The early stages of cancer may have no symptoms. Therefore, regular screening is important.

Colon and rectal are among the most common cancers in developed countries. More than 940,000 cases are diagnosed each year and about 492,000 people die from the illness.

Say researchers for those too lazy to pump iron: even household activities like scrubbing the tub, washing windows etc. will suffice.
