Sugar variant may make a world of difference to Alzheimers disease

A novel study by Canadian researchers has revealed that variants of a sugar, is found to improve Alzheimers disease in mice//. Though these studies are still in ithe nascent stages, these findings could mean better methods of treatment to manage Alzheimers and even offset the onslaught.

A type of sugar, termed as cyclohexanehexol, or inositol did not cause the collection of amyloid a deposits, which is significant in Alzheimers disease. A treatment based on this, Scyllo-inositol treatment is known to have enhanced the cognitive potential of mice. The study has been published in the online edition of the journal Nature Medicine.
