Standards Required to Control the ‘weight-loss Pills’ Markt

There is growing concern that Americans are purchasing weight-loss pills from manufacturers, who are evading the laws laid down by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA). //

According to statistics, Americans could be expending $35 billion annually on weight-loss products that are most often useless and at other times extremely harmful to the consumers.

A poll conducted by CBS about how the Americans perceive ‘weight-loss pills’, revealed that 64 percent felt the need for warnings regarding adverse effects to weight loss products, while 54% assumed that the products are cleared by the FDA before they hit the market.

The need of the hour is a proper regulation and standard for weight loss products, akin to standards used for medications that treat chronic health conditions.
