Andhra Pradesh Chemists and Druggists Association (APCDA) has decided to help its member chemists to computerise their business transactions. The Association is in the process of developing a software, which could be commonly utilised by its members. It will also procure the computers in bulk in order to ensure a rock-bottom price for the chemists who are interested in joining the campaign. The efforts are meant to turn drugs trade more accountable, respectable and ethical. //

Ramesh Chandra Gupta, president, APCDA, felt that the proposed mechanism would prepare the druggists to face any surprise inspections from the regulatory authorities. The sale of drugs whose expiry dates are over can be minimised as the computer will be programmed not to accept such drugs, he said.

This association had recently organised a one day refresher camp for the about 150 chemists in the city and suburbs. The officials from the drugs control department had attended the programme and talked about the prevailing rules and regulations.
