Specific Immune Mechanism against DNA viruses

Professor Ruslan Medshitov and his Post doc Daniel Stetson have reported in the Journal Immunity that the host immune system responds in a different mechanism to viral DNA infection. //

Viruses are classified based on their Genetic material into DNA and RNA viruses and researchers have found that immune response which acts in recognisation of these viral products in the host is different for DNA and RNA viruses.

Immune response against the virus acts by producing the immune cells against the viral products, which is produced inside the host cell in which the invading virus replicates, the researchers have found that immune response mechanism is different for DNA and RNA viruses, which would help to understand more about antiviral immune response.
