Southeast Missouri State (SEMO) has adopted the high-tech, proactive SportsAide(TM) system throughout its athletic complexes in its mission to prevent the spread of bacterial infections.
Provided by SportCoatings and partner General Sports Venue(TM) (GSV), the university has treated the locker rooms, training rooms and the moveable mats at the Rosegarten Athletic Facility, the Show Me Center, Parker Gymnastics Facility and the Houck Arena in early June with SportsAide.
"We are investing in the most advanced antimicrobial technology to provide our student-athletes with confidence in their protected athletic environments," said Alfred Castillo, Head Athletic Trainer at SEMO. "Our proactive stance on safety and prevention will benefit our athletes and visiting athletes alike by minimizing the spread of potentially harmful bacteria."
SportsAide is part of the Sports Antimicrobial System(R) (SAS), provided by SportCoatings of Rochester Hills, Michigan. SAS is a powerful family of treatments that protect and maintain all sports facilities, surfaces and textiles against the risk of microbial contamination. SAS is made up of SportsAide, TurfAide(TM), FabricAide(TM) and SportsClean(TM).
"Single celled microorganisms such as bacteria and mold need a few key things to survive- food, light and a comfortable place to live," said Craig Andrews, CEO of SportCoatings. "The SAS technology enables facilities to be inhospitable for bacteria to grown on."
SAS is powered by the AEGIS Microbe Shield(R) technology, which has been safely used in consumer goods ranging from shoes to diapers and in medical applications from clean rooms to surgical dressings for more than 30 years. Registered with the EPA, it imparts an invisible layer of antimicrobial protection that will not leach any chemicals or heavy metals into the environment and will not rub off onto a player's skin. SportCoatings is the first and only to bring this
