Sops For Remote Area Dentists

A special allowance of £9,000 per year will be given to dentists who are working in some of the backward areas of Scotland//. This was announced by the Scottish Executive.

Around 350 dentists who provide NHS care will enjoy this special allowance. This scheme is on par with some of the measures followed in the far-flung areas of the country. In Scotland, Capital is currently considered as the most backward area. Craigmiller is the poorest area when income factor is taken into consideration.

According to Lewis Macdonald, the Deputy Health Minister dentists who have opted to provide NHS dental services in the remote areas should certainly be commended and motivated. He also added that oral hygiene is very essential and should be available to every one irrespective of their income and area. Hence this sort of extra allowance is bound to lure talents to achieve complete dental care to the backward areas.
