Children with high intelligence quotient mostly turn vegetarian as they grow up, as reported on Friday in accordance to recent research.//
Dr Catherine Gale working at University of Southampton as an epidemiologist said, "People who are more intelligent as children, who will obviously keep that intelligence when they are 30, were more likely to say they are vegetarians at that age than those that were less intelligent."
According to her intelligent people consider what they eat and hence opt for a healthier diet and exercise frequently. And she added, "There is quite a lot of evidence linking vegetarianism to a lower risk of heart disease. People who are vegetarians tend to have lower blood pressure; lower cholesterol levels and they do have a lower risk of dying from coronary heart disease."
Research findings :
Study of around 8000 people of age group 30 assessed their IQ at 10, the maximum of them with high IQ were vegetarians.
Reasons for becoming a vegetarian :
1) Vegetarian diet is comparatively less in fat, thus preventing obesity, cholesterol, high blood pressure and thus reduces cardiac risk.
2) The diet is high in fiber and vitamins, thus providing optimum nutrition.

Mahatma Gandhi, Ramsgate, Kent, George Bernard Shaw and Linda McCartney.
Though it is noted that many people opt to be vegetarian due to their concern for animals.
