Slow Learners Have Longer Memories

According to a study conducted by the Johns Hopkins researchers it is found that slow learners have longer memories. They say that the brain which controls// the muscle movements is responsible for long term memory. The lead author who conducted this research is Professor Reza Shadmehr and he and his team of scientists published the results in the journal PLoS Biology. This study would help to change the rehabilitation approaches for people who have lost motor abilities. Loss of motor abilities may be due to a variety of reasons such as brain injuries, strokes.

The scientists say that some parts of the brain learn and forget quickly, whereas other area learn more slowly and retains it for a longer time period. Since this kind of research is not been conducted before further research has to be done over a sample to understand the mechanism better. This can latter be used in rehabilitating a stroke patient. Hence these patients should focus on slow learning, as slow-learned motor skills are remembered for a longer time. The lead author who conducted this research is Professor Reza Shadmehr and he and his team of scientists published the results in the journal PLoS Biology.
