Shanghai Women Don their Bras Improperly

The Shanghai Women's Disease Rehabilitation Commission conducted a survey that found that almost 80 percent of Shanghai women were unaware of proper wearing of a bra.

Yu Junde, coordinator of Survey and head official of Shanghai Women's Disease Rehabilitation Commission // has cautioned women against improper wearing of bras which could affect their health.

The survey was conducted on 1,000 women between ages of 18 to 50, which revealed that many were wearing very tight bras.

A ‘Bra and Breast Cancer Study’ conducted in the United States, had revealed a significant link between bras and breast cancer that is three times greater than the link between cigarette smoking and lung cancer.

Their study also revealed that wearing a bra over 12 hours daily conferred a 113 fold increase in breast cancer incidence.

Because of the pressure bras apply to the breast, the lymphatic system is also affected. The lymphatic system consists of tiny, thin-walled vessels, which drain away toxins, cell debris, pathogens like bacteria, viruses and even cancer cells from the breast tissue. And since these vessels have no internal pressureby themselves, they are easily compressed by external pressure, for instance a bra, for instance causing congestion of the tissues. Therefore a tight bra would close the lymphatic pathway from the breast to the lymphatic nodes, causing fluid build-up, swelling, tenderness and cyst formation.

The past month had also seen a report about the increasing the breast size of Chinese women which has made many lingerie companies to shift to a production of larger bras for Chinese women.

For instance the Hong Kong-based lingerie firm Embry Group has stopped production of A-cups for larger chest circumferences because of less demand and has instead increased production of C-, D- and E-cup bras to cater to its rising demands.

Embry opened special counters for its bigger-cup bras in Februar
