Senior Doctor of Apollo Hospital Commits Suicide

A senior doctor with the Apollo Hospital here allegedly committed suicide Tuesday morning , with police attributing it to a family dispute.

Umesh Sharma, president of the orthopaedics department, was found dead at around 7.00 a.m. in his cabin in Apollo Hospital in Sarita Vihar, south Delhi.

Sharma, who is said to have had an ongoing family dispute, came to the hospital at around 6.00 a.m. to monitor his patients. After 20 minutes he retired to his cabin, police said.

He was found dead when some doctors went to consult him in his office.

According to the police, a suicide note was recovered from Sharma, which read: "I m taking my life and no one is responsible for this act."

"Initial investigations suggest that he might have consumed poison to end his life. We are further ascertaining the matter," said Assistant Commissioner of Police Bhisham Singh.
