Science backs the importance of vegetables in diet

According to a study by Imperial College, London a high vegetable and low meat diet is wonderful for blood pressure. It makes people less likely to have high blood pressure//

The study is based on the logic that proteins from vegetable sources are better for BP than meat proteins.

This study is in consonance with other studied that link a vegetarian diet to lowered BP.

Meat eaters have been found to have a higher BP than non meat eaters.

"Our results are consistent with current recommendations that a diet high in vegetable products be part of a healthy way of life for prevention of high blood pressure and related chronic diseases," said Prof Paul Elliott, of Imperial College.

This would mean that people should eat more fruits and vegetables.
