Boston-based Partners Health Care Systems (Partners) and the SRM Institute of Science and Technology, a deemed university, today signed a MoU in health care. //

The MoU aimed at developing high quality clinical programmes and providing brief, mid-career training opportunities for its medical and nursing staff both in India and in Boston, the Deemed University's Vice Chancellor P Sathyanarayanan, said.

The MoU was signed in the presence of Tamil Nadu Governor Surjit Singh Barnala at the Raj Bhavan.

Sathyanarayanan signed the MoU on behalf of his institution, while Dr David M Jones, Executive Director signed on behalf of the Partners.

SRM had identified Partners, which represented five hospitals, including Massachussets General hospital, to accelerate its development of high-quality clinical services, he said.

Speaking on the occasion, the Governor hoped that SRM and Partners would have a lasting and fruitful venture as health care was an important benchmark of a country's progress.

Hospitals were the tangible indicators of the shape of health care, he said, adding that the Institute should aim for cost effective health care that improved the quality of human life.
