Russia Hit by Bird Flu

Russia (UPI) – Dagestan in Russia has been witness to the death of more than half a million birds, from the time avian influenza has hit the south of Russia.//

According to the Federal Consumer Rights and Human Well Being Service, between Jan 25 and Feb 1, almost 350,000 birds have died at Eldama, a poultry farm in the Karabudakhkent district, and 76,000 at the Makhachkalinskaya farm between Feb. 6 and Feb. 8. This farm has been quarantined. Nearly 120,000 birds were killed, after they tested positive for the dangerous H5N1 strain of avian influenza.

Southeast of Asia was the first recipient of the dangerous strain, after which China followed suit. Now, because of migratory birds, the virus has spread to Asia as well.
