Registrations in NHS Dental Register Falls Short of Expectations

Despite lofty claims of sprucing up dental care in United Kingdom, and a munificent grant of £45 million for the purpose, nearly 33% of children// still don’t figure anywhere on the NHS dental list.

The year ending 31st March saw a steep fall in the NHS registrations, down by a 42000 enrollments. This, notwithstanding the strategies, designed to increase NHS registrations with incentives for dentists to ensure registrations are maintained. Yet, it has not made the desired difference, as recent figures reveal.

Andrew Lamb, director of the British Dental Association in Scotland, said: "Getting registered with a high street dentist is becoming increasingly difficult." The Deputy Health Minister, Lewis Macdonald, was highly appreciative of the work done by the Dentists which has reflected in the appointments going up by 20 per cent.
