100 health professionals put their heads together to thrash out the burning issue of dwindling staff numbers, which is weakening the healthcare system in Queensland. The// representatives speaking for nearly 800 radiographers, radiation therapists, sonographers and nuclear medicine technologists in state-run hospitals has warned that the crisis may result in mass resignations of staff, in the absence of any action.

Staff shortage has resulted in costly equipments lying unused. Waiting lists of patients have gone up and essential services have come to a standstill due to the shortage of staff.

Liberal health spokesman John-Paul Langbroek said "It's really the same sort of thing that we've seen with doctors and nurses. The government has seen that and yet it's fairly clear that people don't want to come and work for this government. If people don't get conditions diagnosed, of course, it leads to major problems."
