Prince Charles lends support to Alternative Medicine

In an open show of support to Alternative Medicine, Britain's Prince Charles has urged the government to allocate 10 million pounds ($14.21 million) to fund a five-year research program into the effects of alternative medicine. The world is now sitting up and taking notice of holistic medicine and Prince Charles’s support to fund research in this field has come as a shot in the arm for these crusaders of integrated medicine.

Charles, a long-standing advocate of alternative medicine, had held a 90-minute meeting with Health Secretary Alan Milburn over funding for the Foundation for Integrated Medicine, founded by the prince in 1996.

Most of these studies into alternative medicine suffer from paucity of funds and this appeal by the Prince has given added impetus to the research. "It is critical that government funding is made available for this initiative," Michael Fox, the foundation's chief executive, was quoted as saying.

The scope of Ayurveda, Homeopathy, Siddha Medicine, Acupuncture and other forms of alternative medicine has increased tremendously over the past few years that doctors advice Holistic Medicine which is an umbrella of all forms of medicine for the betterment of the patient. But as long as the patient is benefited who’s complaining?

"Prince Charles has been at the forefront of the campaign for integrated medicine. It will be good news if more money is now forthcoming," a spokesman for Charles was quoted as saying
