Prime Minister Visits the Proposed Super Hospital Site

The Prime Minister visited the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham to meet with staff and patients and also to view the premises of the proposed super hospital.//

Seizing the opportune moment, the Prime Minister was targeted with questions about accusations from members of his own party and the privatization plan of the health service.

To the volley of questions, Mr. Blair retorted "Every time we make changes, people will say it's the end of the NHS or, when you get the new city academies and it's the end of state schools, and then you put the changes in and people treat it as the norm. We are living in a different world and these extra investments in bricks and mortar are great but they need new ways of working.

People have got to make up their own mind. I think if you go to A&E or you are a cardiac or cancer patient you can see the change. Let's celebrate the progress and then work out what more we need to do."

The Prime minister also unveiled a plaque at the site, which is slated to house a new ￡550 million PFI super hospital and was all praise for the commitment and dedication of the NHS staff
