Police Team Permitted to Interrogate Rahul Mahajan

Hospital authorities treating Rahul Mahajan, the son of late Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Pramod Mahajan, for a suspected case of drug overdose Monday gave the go-ahead to Delhi Police to interrogate him//.

'We have declared Rahul as fit for interrogation and he will soon be out of the intensive care unit,' said a senior doctor of the Indraprastha Apollo Hospital.

'A police team has already arrived in our hospital and they are going to question him,' authorities added.

Mahajan and his close aide Bibek Moitra were admitted to the hospital early Friday. While Moitra was declared brought dead by doctors, Rahul was put under life support system in the intensive care unit of the hospital.

Meanwhile, sources in police said some senior doctors of Apollo had been asked to come to the Tuglaq Road police station for interrogation.

Police in the capital are also cracking on a group of drug peddlers involving Nigerian nationals. Police said Sahil Zarru, a youth present Thursday night at the 7, Safdarjung Road residence of Pramod Mahajan, had confessed to delivering drugs to Rahul and Moitra.

Three Nigerians were arrested Sunday and some drugs recovered from their possession. Police added that the foreign nationals had supplied the drugs to Sahil.

Nine other Nigerian nationals have been detained for questioning in the raids conducted across the National Capital Region.
