Phamac to the Rescue of Diabetics

Diabetes is on the rise in New Zealand. Hence Pharmac decided to fund for the new once-a-day insulin for those who have serious fluctuations in blood sugar level. //

It has decided to give Insulin Glargine or Lantus at a subsidized rate from July 1.

Murray Dear who is the president for the Diabetes New Zealand said that they have worked for obtaining funding to reduce the incidence of diabetes.

He also said that the insulin would not be provided for all the patients who were suffering from Type 1 diabetes.

Lantus would be provided only for those suffering from serious conditions which are life threatening and would be given especially to the young people.
