Personality Disorders Caused Army To Let Go Of 1,000 Soldiers

It is reported that the Army was forced to discharge about a 1,000 soldiers due to their suffering from personality disorders//. This is the same reason why private Steven D. Green, who is accused of raping and killing an Iraqi woman and murdering her family, was also discharged.

Steven D. Green's military documents show the reason of discharge as an "anti-social personality disorder."

It is estimated that 1.2 percent of the 83,000 soldiers discharged in 2005 had personality disorders, more than the 1 percent in 2001 before Iraq war.

Lt. Gen. Kevin C. Kiley, the Army's surgeon general, revealed that the disorder is not associated with combat trauma, but is a trait that stays throughout life. He added that although soldiers may suffer with the disorder, they do continue to perform their duties.
