Performance Of Physicians To Be Honed

Pay for performance is reported to be the latest trend which is making waves in the health care sector.// Physicians are very keen to learn and develop their skills to make sure the evaluation of the insurer is done in the best interest of patients.

More than 170 physician performance measures have been developed for asthma, heart failure and emergency care through the Physician Consortium for Performance Improvement organized by the American Medical Association.

An independent quality organization has approved many of the measures that have been adopted. An extensive use of these measures by physicians and health plans is also encouraged keeping in mind the quality of care provided to the patients.

A survey has found that 25% of Americans do not fill out a prescription as they feel it is not necessary. To improve the quality of health care the quality measures and ratings must be properly used and aligned.
