People Need To Be More Guarded Against Skin Cancer

There appears to be a remarkable laxity among the people of Queensland when it comes to care regarding skin cancer. Felipe Beltran, the spokesman for Queensland Institute of Medical Research // (QIMR) has admitted that the organization’s drive against skin cancer is not having the desired impact.

The online study of the QIMR did not elicit the expected number of responses. The people are fully aware that they should be sun safe, but it is doubtful if they are actually putting it into practice. The employees of Suncorp were studied, and the organization will further refine its programs to make the people change their attitude.

Over 80% of the population of Australia suffered from sunburns during the course of the year, and sun creams are used by them only occasionally. Sunglasses, a hat, applying sun cream and protective clothing are necessary for guarding against skin cancer.

Most people wear hats only when the heat of the sun becomes unbearable. There are a large number of melanoma cases in Queensland, where a skin cancer case is diagnosed once in every seven minutes. Suncorp plans to distribute free sun cream to people going to beaches during this holiday season.
