Opera star Luciano Pavarotti is recuperating from pancreatic cancer, says his wife .

Nicoletta Mantovani insists that the 71-year-old tenor, who had a tumour removed from his pancreas in New York last year, has not lost any weight.

"You never can tell with this disease but I think Luciano has done it, he's recovered," the Mirror quoted her as saying.

"He's finishing his fifth cycle of chemotherapy. He hasn't lost a hair from his head and he hasn't lost any weight" added the 36-year-old.

She says that the singer has returned to work, and is working on a record of duets with other artists.

Nicoletta has also revealed that Pavarotti's illness helped reunite his family after his bitter divorce from his first wife, Adua.

"The illness has reinforced all the ties. We do not speak about death; there is no need to. He is filled with happiness," she said.
