Parents Outraged Over Doctor’s Bunglin

Dr Andrew Holton of the Leicester Royal Infirmary is reported to have wrongly diagnosed over 600 children with epilepsy since 1993. // Parents are objecting to the doctor being permitted to continue his practice in spite of the blunders he has committed, by the General Medical Council. The Leicester Epilepsy Parents' Group has called this decision a scandal as he will endanger the lives of more children.

Adrian Stevenson, one of the aggrieved parents has called the decision shameful. The kind of drugs that Stevenson’s daughter had been prescribed had resulted in her suffering from fits and being hospitalized several times, virtually ruining her academic performance. The entire family is reported to have been traumatized as a result of this.

Several children whom the doctor had misdiagnosed are reported to be in a zombie like condition as a result of the drugs they have been consuming. Stevenson chairs the Leicester Epilepsy Parents Group, and he has called upon the families affected by the bungling of the doctor to approach the country’s Council for Regulatory Health Care Excellence. The High Court has the power to overturn the decision which permits the doctor to continue practicing.
