Ovarian cancer risk reduced by regular exercise

Brisk walks or running may reduce the risk of ovarian cancer, according to a new Danish study, which also suggests that exercise may reduce the risk of some other forms of cancer.

Women who exercise more than four hours a week have a 70 % reduction in the risk of development of ovarian cancer. // In addition, the rate of breast cancer and colon cancer was also less frequent among those who exercised.

The study, which surveyed the exercise habits of nearly 28,000 men and women, has been the first indicate a link between exercise and a lower risk of developing ovarian cancer. However, walking fast, cycling or running has to be taken up for the effects to be manifested.

US studies have earlier suggested that exercise may have an effect on breast cancer, just as Danish researchers have indicated that active men have a reduced risk of developing colon cancer.
