A survey conducted by Osaka Medical Center for Health sciences have found that more than 70% of smokers who were willing to quit smoking could not stop themselves from smoking//. The medical center released their results last week the results of the survey conducted in 1,666 smokers (872 men and 794 women) between the age group of 20 to 79. Study also showed that 32.3% of smokers had been asked by their physicians to quit smoking and in this 16% of them were only given correct guidance to quit smoking.

The survey questionnaire contained questions for the recruits about the number of cigarette smoked in a day? How many times you have tried to quit smoking? Have you tried quitting smoking by reducing the number of cigarettes smoked by you? Have you increased the number of cigarettes compared to initial period?

Gender difference:

Inability to quit smoking is not differentiated in male and female smokers, 67.1% of men and 67.8% women smokers could not quit smoking, with no difference in quitting smoking between men and women.
