Online Medical Counseling In UP Lacks Transparency: Students

Around 400 candidates who qualified through the CPMT-06 arrived at the counseling centre on GSVM Medical College. This is the first time that candidates can access counseling process online// and perhaps this has meant low in-person attendance.

The seat status will be available on the website www.upcpmt.nic.in. But students were dissatisfied with the whole online process. They said that even after many attempts they were unable to find the exact seat status in colleges. One student, Ravi Pandey who has secured 217th rank in the State was quoted by Hindustan Times as saying, “Unlike manual counseling when students could see the available and filled seats on the projector screen, this time even after appearing in the counseling it is not known to me in which medical college I am going to pursue my MBBS education.”

Vijayata Singh, who secured 525th rank also felt the same, “I have opted for Meerut, then Jhansi and after these two choices I chose all other options as the status of seats in government medical colleges was not known to me at the time of counselling.”

In the online system, students were given the choice of 36 options of government and private medical colleges.
